Eat, Drink, Love: Napa Rehearsal Dinner

Not long ago, the by-the-book wedding rehearsal dinner was strictly a family and wedding party-only affair. However, as destination weddings mushroom in popularity, traditional “night before” gatherings are evolving into larger, more casual, “welcome receptions,” to include those far-fung relatives and friends who’ve made the trek to attend.

To wow a rehearsal dinner crowd with history, romance, extraordinary food, and amazing wines, head to Napa’s historic Inglenook Winery, one of the oldest and most distinguished wineries in the Valley. Built in 1879, in the style of a grand European chateau, the winery is surrounded by vine-covered hills, setback about a quarter-mile from the Valley’s main artery, Highway 29.

Ride up the driveway to arrive at Inglenook’s picturesque grounds, which ooze romance and drama from every “pour”—hardly surprising given that legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola owns the (certified organic) vineyards.

The output includes some of the most highly regarded wines in the Valley, most notably its “Rubicon” label, an award-winning blend of Bordeaux varietals that, at $210 a bottle, is sure to impress everyone in your party, oenophile or otherwise.
